Sale Sharks number eight Josh Beaumont

New deal: Josh Beaumont

Sale have received a pre-Christmas boost with the news that Josh Beaumont and Mike Haley have both agreed new contracts with the club.

The duo have inked new two-year deals.

Director of rugby Steve Diamond believes Beaumont, 22, is a future England international while Haley, 22, is now first choice at Sale.

"Josh and Mike are both great lads and we are delighted they have both agreed their new deals with the club," said Sharks boss Diamond.

"Josh is a like a sponge in that he soaks up all the information and even though Nathan Hines is now back in the team, Josh is still running the line-out.

"He's thriving on the responsibility.

"Mike's another who has seized his opportunity with both hands. Nothing fazes him and he has kicked on massively keeping a current international out of the starting side.

"Mike like Josh knows where they stand.

"Both lads have taken their opportunities and if they carry on performing like they have done then they know they will stay in the team

"We are a building a team around these young lads like Josh, Mike, Tommy Taylor - who signed a new deal last week - and Will Addison and Mark Jennings.

"We're very active at the minute retention-wise with several other squad members and its just a case of dotting the Is and crossing the Ts and we'll announce them as we go along but the club is a good place to be at the moment."
